Day 1: Arrive Launceston (D)
Your tour commences by meeting your Tasmanian Coach Captain in the reception
of the Balmoral on York at 12:00pm. After introductions are made, board the
coach and travel to the Tamar Valley
region to visit the Swiss style Village of Grindelwald and browse through
the many novelty shops there. From Brady's Lookout you can see all the way
down the valley so have the cameras ready as this is your next stop before
making your way to the Gold & Heritage Museum at Beaconsfield , the site of
'The Great Escape'. Crossing over the Batman Bridge, one of the world's first cable-stayed truss
bridges, you make your way back to Launceston via the eastern side of
the Tamar River. Tonight join your fellow travellers along with your coach
captain as you enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Historic Estates (B L)
A guided tour of Woolmer's Estate is first up this morning as you catch
a glimpse at the history of the northern midlands. Then it's time to visit
the sleepy historic village of Evandale where you can enjoy the tastes of
the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company before making your way out to Clarendon
House, the grandest colonial house in the colony with extensive gardens and
parklands. After a tour of the house and grounds enjoy a light lunch in the
cafe. Making your way back to Launceston your final stop is at the award
winning Josef Chromy Vineyard for a wine tasting. Dinner is own arrangements
tonight so take advantage of the many magnificent restaurants around
Launceston.
Day 3: Cradle Mountain (B L)
Today travel to one of Tasmania's best known icons, Cradle Mountain National
Park. Enjoy a tour to Dove Lake where on a clear day the craggy peak of
Cradle Mountain can be seen. Whilst at Cradle Mountain enjoy lunch and visit
a local wilderness gallery. You will also have a chance to get up close and
personal with a Tasmanian Devil as you visit Devils @ Cradle a Tasmanian
Devil Sanctuary. Make your way back to Launceston via Sheffield the mural
capital of Australia.
Day 4: Launceston to Hobart (B)
Before leaving Launceston this morning take a stroll through the city park
and spend some free time in the city before meeting back at the hotel where
you will board the coach and travel to Launceston's iconic Cataract Gorge
Reserve on the door step of the city where you can explore its scenery and
beauty via the many walking tracks. Making your way to Hobart you will stop
at the most beautiful historic town in Tasmania, Ross which has been
preserved as one of Australia's finest 19th century villages. You will have
time for lunch here before your last stop of the day on the outskirts of
Hobart the recently opened MONA. MONA is a contemporary museum of modern and
fine arts. It is also the location of one of Tasmania's premier Vineyards, Morilla
Estate. After spending time exploring the museum you will then get a chance
to taste some of the Estate's award winning wines before it will be time to
travel back into Hobart to your accommodation for the next 3 nights.

Day 5: Port Arthur (B)
This morning make your way down to the Tasman Peninsula to visit the Port Arthur
Historic Site where you will learn of the
atrocities that took place here over 200 years ago. Richly embedded into
Australia's history the Port Arthur Historic Site is guaranteed to have an
affect on all whom visit. Visit the coastal features that surround Port
Arthur that have been formed by thousands of years of pounding by the waves
of the Southern Ocean. Make your way to Hobart via Richmond which will have
you feeling like you are in a time capsule as you explore the streets of
this quaint historic village.
Day 6: Peppermint Bay (B L D)
Stroll through the gathering of people and marvel at the local arts and
crafts at Tasmania's largest weekly market, the Salamanca Markets. Maybe
find that special souvenir to take home to remember your trip by. Maybe the
highlight of your tour is today as you board Peppermint Bay II for a relaxing, rejuvenating
and rewarding day discovering the real Tasmania on board the luxurious 23 metre catamaran. Leaving from the tourist hub of Sullivan's Cove, the
Peppermint Bay Cruise takes in the harbour, the River Derwent, and the magnificent waters
of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, on its way to Peppermint Bay. Enjoy the
freshest local cuisine for lunch as you cruise the coastline of Northern Bruny Island. Today is a real treat and something that you will remember
Tasmania by for a long time to come.
Day 7: Hobart Environs (B)
Your last day of the tour will start with a birds eye view of Hobart
from the summit of Mt Wellington before some time to explore the Royal
Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, Australia's second oldest Botanical Gardens and
home to the largest display of mature conifers in the Southern Hemisphere.
Then return to the city for some free time
before bidding your compatriots a fond farewell. |
