Day 1: Arrive Launceston (D)
Your tour commences by meeting your Tasmanian Coach Captain in the reception
of the Country Club Villas at 10:00am. After introductions are made, board the
coach and travel to the famous Cataract Gorge Reserve and explore its beauty
and scenery via the many walking tracks. Make your way to the Tamar Valley
region to visit the Swiss style Village of Grindelwald and browse through
the many novelty shops there. From Brady's Lookout you can see all the way
down the valley so have the cameras ready as this is your next stop before
crossing over the Batman Bridge, one of the world's first cable-stayed truss
bridges before visiting Hillwood Berry Farm. Arriving back in Launceston
finish the day strolling through Launceston's picturesque City Park.

Day 2: East Coast (B D)
Leaving Launceston this morning visit the sleepy historic village
of Evandale where you can enjoy the tastes of the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce
Company. A guided tour of Woolmer's Estate will give you a glimpse at
Tasmania's history before making your way across to the East Coast for a
visit to Freycinet National Park. Be informed at the visitor centre before a
ranger will take you on a guided walk for spectacular views of the Hazards,
Cape Tourville and along the cliff line to the lighthouse. The white sandy
beaches and azure waters will take your breath away. As you make your way
off the peninsula stop at the Freycinet Marine Farm
where you can purchase fresh oysters, mussels and rock lobster. You can sit
at a table and enjoy a drink while you overlook the Hazards on the Freycinet
Peninsula. After
dinner tonight there is the option to enjoy the Bicheno Penguin Tour which is held at dusk.

Day 3: Port Arthur (B D)
As you make your way down the picturesque east coast this morning stop off
at Swansea for a look at this coastal township. As you leave Swansea keep an
eye out for the quirky profile of Spiky Bridge. From here travel down to
Triabunna and Orford before turning inland and head to the Church of St John
the Baptist in Buckland where you will see a stained glassed window
depicting the life of John the Baptist and is said to date from the 14th
century. From here travel to Port Arthur where you will learn of the
atrocities that took place here over 200 years ago. Richly embedded into
Australia's history the Port Arthur Historic Site is guaranteed to have an
affect on all whom visit. Visit the coastal features that surround Port
Arthur that have been formed by thousands of years of pounding by the waves
of the Southern Ocean. Make your way to Hobart where you will stay for the
next three nights.

Day 4: Hobart (B)
This morning travel to the summit of Mt Wellington for magnificent views of
the city and the surrounding areas. Richmond is the next stop on your agenda
where you can explore the streets of this quaint historic village. Walking
through the town is like entering into a time capsule of yesteryear. You
will have time to enjoy lunch in Richmond before making your way to MONA.
MONA is a contemporary museum of modern and fine arts. It is also the
location of one of Tasmania's premier Vineyards, Morilla Estate. After
spending time exploring the museum you will then get a chance to taste some
of the Estate's award winning wines before it will be time to travel back to
Hobart. Tonight
you are free to dine wherever you like. You can choose to stay at Wrest
Point or experience one of Hobart's many fine restaurants.
Day 5: Huon Valley (B D)
Travelling south from Hobart today's journey takes you through the rich
and fertile Huon Valley. Visit a local Apple Museum to discover the history
of apple growing in the region. From here continue via the D'Entrecasteaux
Highway to visit the Wooden Boat Centre at
Franklin. Wooden Boat building is a large industry in the region, discover
the intricacies involved in this fine art before making your way back to
Hobart for a visit to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, Australia's
second oldest Botanical Gardens and home to the largest display of mature
conifers in the Southern Hemisphere.
After dinner tonight there is the option to join the Penitentiary Chapel
Ghost Tour.
Day 6: West Coast (B D)
Before leaving Hobart take some free time to visit the CBD and Salamanca
area to either shop or just sit and relax at one of the many cafes. Make
your way to Strahan on Tasmania's rugged west coast, visiting the work in
progress of the 'Wall in the Wilderness' and the spectacular Nelson Falls.
Before dinner tonight venture down to the esplanade to take in Tasmania's
longest running play, 'The Ship that Never Was'. A light heated and
entertaining depiction of the failed escape from Sarah Island, but be
prepared as audience participation is required!! Dinner tonight will be a
seafood buffet fresh from the days catch (other meals available for non
seafood eaters).

Day 7: Strahan (B D)
This morning you have free time to explore the village of Strahan. Take this
opportunity to visit the Huon Pine Museum to view the many works that have
been handcrafted at the sawmill onsite or you can take the option of joining
the West Coast Wilderness Railway. After lunch meet for your Gordon River
Cruise on a state of the art catamaran that cruises across Macquarie Harbour
to the famous Gordon River. Making stops at Sarah Island and Heritage
Landing and including a buffet dinner this is a great way to spend your
afternoon and evening.
Day 8: Cradle Mountain (B L D)
Today travel to one of Tasmania's best known icons, Cradle Mountain National
Park. Enjoy a tour to Dove Lake where on a clear day the craggy peak of
Cradle Mountain can be seen. Whilst at Cradle Mountain enjoy lunch and
visit a local wilderness gallery. You will also have a chance to get up
close and personal with a Tasmanian Devil as you visit Devils @ Cradle a
Tasmanian Devil Sanctuary. Make your way to Devonport via Sheffield the mural capital of Australia.

Day 9: North West Day Tour (B D)
Travel to Burnie for a guided tour of the Paper Makers' Workshop. Try
your hand at paper making and visit the contemporary museum and arts centre. From here travel onto the seaside township
of Stanley made famous by the granite monolith towering over the village
below. You can opt to take a chairlift ride to the summit for spectacular views down the
coastline and out to Bass Strait or spend time exploring the village. Travel back down the
coast to Devonport stopping at some scenic spots along the way including the
Table Cape scenic drive.
Day 10: Devonport - Launceston (B)
Last day in Tassie! As you make your way back to Launceston today your stops
will include Anvers House of Chocolate to discover the fine art of chocolate
making, a Cherry Shed where you can purchase some fresh Tasmanian Cherries,
Ashgrove Cheese Farm where you can taste and purchase some of the finest
cheese in the world and a Silk Artwork display in Deloraine. From here our coach captain will deliver anybody that is flying out
today to Launceston airport by 3:00pm whilst those that are staying on can
be delivered to any city hotel. |
